Oatmeal raisin cookies are an old staple just like chocolate chip cookies. They are simple to make and are a definite crowd pleaser. The nice thing about these cookies is that they fill your house with a nice aroma when they are baking in the oven.
- 1 stick of butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 3/4 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 375°.
In a medium sized bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
Gradually beat flour mixture into butter mixture.
Stir in oats and raisins.
Drop teaspoons full of batter onto ungreased cookie sheets (12 cookies will fit on sheet).
Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly on cookie sheet then move to cooling rack and let cool completely.
